How it works

Thorough where it counts, simple everywhere else.

Most of this happens over video. You will always know what the next step is, and you will never be left wondering where things stand.

We start with you, not your portfolio.

Before I recommend a single thing, I get to know your life and your priorities well enough to say them back to you, until you think "yes, exactly." Everything we build follows from that.

What working together looks like

It starts with a relaxed first call: 15 to 30 minutes, virtual, nothing to prepare and nothing to sign. We use it to see if we're a fit, both directions. If we are, getting set up is a handful of focused virtual meetings over your first weeks: you share documents at your own pace, we walk through early recommendations, and I walk you through the investment philosophy so none of it is a black box. From there, here's the ground we cover together, and keep covering, for as long as we work together.

Understand your priorities. We go deep on what you want from your life and your time, not just your money: the relationships, the pursuits, and the security that make a good life for you, and what "enough" looks like so the target stops moving. You will share documents, and I will build the first clear picture of where you stand. No recommendations until I can play your priorities back to you and you say "yes, exactly."
Map income and cash flow. A clear view of what comes in and what goes out, and, if you are near or in retirement, exactly where your income will come from and in what order.
Build your investments. A diversified, low-cost, evidence-based portfolio built around your priorities and the ups and downs you can actually live through. I will teach you enough that you could explain the approach to a friend.
Minimize your taxes. Often your largest expense over a lifetime, so every decision runs through a tax lens: Roth conversions, gains thresholds, Medicare income lines. I coordinate with your CPA (I don't prepare your returns) so nothing works at cross-purposes.
Protect your family. The unglamorous part that saves the plan: right-sized life and disability coverage, plus estate basics like a will, healthcare directive, and powers of attorney. I bring in an attorney when your situation calls for it.
Implement and live it. We put the plan in place, then settle into a steady rhythm: an intense kickoff, at least two reviews a year, and me a phone call or email away in between.

Your plan evolves as your life does.

The first plan is never the last one. A job change, an early retirement, an unexpected business sale, a surprise third kid, life keeps moving, and your plan moves with it. We revisit and adjust as your priorities change, because a plan that cannot bend is a plan that breaks.

What we cover together

Comprehensive means comprehensive. Here is the ground we cover: the core you can count on, plus more as your situation calls for it.

Common questions

How does working with you actually work?

It starts with a short, no-pressure call to see if we are a fit. From there we move through a clear path: understanding your priorities, then income, investments, taxes, and protection, then putting the plan in place and reviewing it on a regular rhythm.

What do I need to share with you to get started?

Nothing for the first call. After that, I will ask for documents that give me a clear picture of where you stand, things like recent tax returns, investment account statements, insurance policies, and any estate planning documents you have. You share what you have at your own pace, and we fill in the gaps together over the first few meetings.

How long does it take to get a financial plan in place?

The first call is 15 to 30 minutes. If we decide to move forward, the initial planning process typically takes four to eight weeks, a handful of focused virtual meetings to gather information, build the plan, walk through recommendations, and get your investments in place. Some situations move faster, some take longer depending on complexity.

Can I get a one-time financial plan rather than an ongoing relationship?

No. The practice is built around an ongoing relationship, not a one-time plan. Financial decisions compound and circumstances change, so a plan that is not updated as your life evolves quickly becomes a plan that no longer fits.

How often will we meet?

An intense kickoff up front, then at least two reviews a year once your plan is in place. In between, I am a phone call or email away whenever something comes up or changes.

Will you work alongside my existing CPA and attorney?

Yes. I coordinate with your CPA and attorney rather than replacing them. On taxes, that means nothing I recommend works at cross-purposes with your accountant's strategy. On legal matters, estate documents, buy-sell agreements, and similar, I bring in an attorney when your situation calls for it and work alongside them from the planning side.

What if my life or plans change?

That is the expectation, not the exception. A job change, an early retirement, a business sale, a new child, we revisit and adjust your plan as your life and priorities evolve.

What happens if I want to stop working with you?

There is no lock-in. You can leave at any time, and I will make the transition as smooth as possible. Your accounts and documents are yours.

What does it cost?

One transparent annual fee based on the assets I manage, starting at a $5,000 minimum fee. You can see the full schedule on the home page.

Do you work with clients in my state?

Almost always. Everything is handled virtually, so where you live is rarely a barrier. The only exception is a handful of states where I am not registered yet, and if that is you, I will tell you on our first call.
